The Lord's Supper
We gather as a local church, claiming the promise of the Lord Jesus
(Matthew 18:20) to be in our midst. The most significant meeting of the
church is the one the Lord introduced before his death; He told his
disciples to remember Him by partaking of bread and wine symbols of his
body and blood.
Following the teaching of the Lord and the example of the apostles, we
meet weekly to remember the Lord Jesus and his death for us. The meeting
is for worship and singing hymns of praise. Without prearrangement, the
meeting is open for brethren in church fellowship to stand and lead the
congregation in praise and worship of Christ for His person and work at
the cross.
This worship is followed by the taking of bread and wine by believers in
the fellowship of the assembly. Generally a brief Bible message and
announcements of future activities conclude the meeting.
Sunday School
Sunday School is taught in the lower level of the hall. Young people from
the ages of 3 to 16 are the focus of this program. After a time of group
singing and activities, the children are divided into classes where they
are taught a broad range of stories and principles from the Bible. Our
teachers also sponser several special events throughout the year,
including an annual Sunday School picnic.
Bible Teaching
This meeting is held in the main auditorium concurrent with the Sunday
School. It is for adult Bible teaching and preaching. A speaker will
present a variety of doctrinal and practical themes designed to teach and
encourage Biblical principles and values. A systematic Bible study also
takes place at this time although not concurrently.
Gospel Meeting
The gospel we preach is that "Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third
day" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4
At the gospel meeting, held in the main auditorium, two men speak from a
variety of Bible texts. After a time of congregational singing, they
present a clear message about God's way of salvation.
In this meeting we emphasize the Bible's call to repent from sin and
personally accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Since this is an
individual matter, no "Alter calls" are ever held; personal conversation,
however, is always available should you desire.
Prayer Meeting and Bible Study
This meeting is divided, first for prayer and then for a Bible study. The
Bible study is opened by an overview of the topic or chapter followed by a
detailed discussion.
